Vegetable oils and fats

WE FOLLOW THE EFSA RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE USE OF OILS IN OUR RECIPES

EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority, has authorized the use of oleic acid-based products with the indication on the maintenance of normal cholesterol levels.

The European authority has in fact specified that the “replacement of saturated fats in the diet with unsaturated fats such as oleic acid helps maintain normal levels of cholesterol in the blood.” Misura has made a commitment in this area using high oleic sunflower oil.

High oleic sunflower oil

Extracted from high oleic sunflower seeds, this oil has a high level of unsaturated fats (omega 9) that helps maintain normal levels of cholesterol in the blood.

Why is it useful? Oil rich in oleic acid is known for its beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system: in particular, it it seems that it has anti-oxidizing effects and helps maintain normal levels of cholesterol in the blood (in particular, the levels of the so-called “bad” cholesterol) and to reduce blood pressure.

Shea fat

Shea fat is extracted from the shea nut providing a fat with innumerable properties. According to tradition, the shea nuts are harvested between mid-June and mid-September. The nuts produced by this tree look like walnuts and on the inside there are naturally fat seeds similar to white almonds. On average, every tree produces 20 kg of this fat, which in addition to its emollient and moisturizing properties, is also rich in vitamins.

A curious fact: thanks to its properties, the shea tree in Africa is defined as the tree of health and youth.
